Childrens' Day, Notting Hill Carnival.

When I was little my mum said I was her lagniappe. It's a word they use in Trinidad where she is from. She said it was a word they use to describe the youngest child that a woman gives birth to quite late in life with quite an age gap between the second last. It's like a left over when she's used up all the good stuff to make the other kids. I didn't much like that. Recently I've found out on Wikipedia that it's a good thing so I'm embracing my Lagniappe status. Here's a truck I saw at Notting Hill Carnival on Children's day. I tried to find out what they do but their website is down.

..and this is my nephew Jerome (not the lagniappe, the eldest) in the band Kinetika Bloco.
