Mariachis in Xochimilco.

One of the teacher's was leaving Mexico to go home to Austrailia. This was his leaving party.
This is one of the songs the mariachi boat played for him. Our boat was singing just as loudly if a little less accurately.

Mariposas Monarcas, State of Mexico.

I went to see this with a photography club I found near one of the offices I work in. I was sitting on the coach by myself, self-conciously hiding my nails which I had painted to look exactly like the butterflies we were going to see. A girl came and sat next to me, she was wearing a butterfly ring, t-shirt and earrings. I knew I had come to the right place. 

Dia de la Candelaria.

In England I'm used to all Christmas decorations disappearing before the 6th of Jan. Here it can stay until 'El Dia de la Candelaria' or 'The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple' which happens in February. For a while before this day market stalls pop up everywhere with Jesus dolls and elaborate costumes to dress them in. I went to a little town named Candelaria inside Mexico City to see people come to present their Jesuses.. or Jesai? to their own church.

Epiphany in Mexico. On the 5th of January you write a letter to the Kings, attach it to a balloon, let it go and get your presents on the 6th.
